The warmest weather of the year thus far is expected today. While today will be the hottest day, hot temperatures could linger across Lake and Modoc counties into Saturday. A moderate risk of heat related illness is expected today, meaning the level of heat affects most individuals sensitive to heat, but especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts are possible in some health systems and in heat-sensitive industries.
While air temperatures will be hot Friday and Saturday, area rivers remain cold and swift. Lakes are also still on the cold side. Wear a life jacket, limit time in cold water, never swim alone and have a flotation device that can be thrown to someone in need.
