Stable atmospheric conditions look to support a warming trend through the end of the week and into the weekend with temperatures peaking on Sunday. Daytime highs on Sunday are forecast to be between 5 and 15 degrees above normal. Moderate HeatRisk is forecast for west side valleys, the Klamath Basin, and areas along Highway 395 (Alturas, Lakeview) on Sunday. Individuals in these areas who are sensitive to heat-related conditions may wants to use extra caution while traveling outdoors.
Monsoonal moisture and upper level instability may support thunderstorm activity early next week. The highest chances are for Monday afternoon and evening and again on Tuesday afternoon and evening. Lower chances (5-10%) for nocturnal thunderstorms are in the forecast as well. Thunderstorms can being hazardous conditions to surrounding areas. In addition to lightning strikes, erratic and gusty winds as well as locally heavy precipitation are possible.
